What's the difference between Lite and Pro?+
Both jump: apps, files, folders, hide-again, themes, drag & drop. Pro adds the power moves - live window switching with previews, Tap-Tap Capture, the ⌃⌥ quick menu, and click-to-aim in Finder. Lite comes from the Mac App Store and is free forever; Pro downloads right here. Full comparison ↑
Why not just use ⌘Tab, ⌘M and the other native shortcuts?+
Keep them - they're great at what they do. But ⌘Tab makes you cycle and scan: tab, tab, tab, squint, tab. TypeJump is direct: one keystroke, and you're in the exact app, file, folder, or window you meant - pure muscle memory, zero looking. And for the things macOS gives you no shortcut for at all - that one spreadsheet, your project folder, the second Chrome window - TypeJump creates one in a second. How fast is creating a shortcut, really?+
About one second. Double-tap the Control key on whatever you're looking at - TypeJump grabs it, you press one letter, done. Or drag any file onto the TypeJump icon. No settings windows, no forms, no digging.
What about apps with several windows, like Chrome?+
Tap the app's shortcut again while it's in front: a bar with live previews of every window appears - even windows on other Spaces. Keep tapping to pick, release to land exactly there.
Will TypeJump conflict with my existing shortcuts?+
No. You choose every key yourself, and Control-based combos are practically collision-free. If a combo is already taken, TypeJump warns you inline and only replaces it when you confirm - nothing is ever overwritten by accident.
What if I move or rename a file that has a shortcut?+
The shortcut follows the file. Move it, rename it, close it, quit the app - pressing the shortcut still takes you there. Only deleting the file retires the jump.
Why isn't Pro in the Mac App Store - and is it safe?+
App Store apps must run inside Apple's sandbox, which forbids exactly what makes Pro magical: looking at another app's windows (the switcher) and reading your Finder selection (capture). No setting changes that - it's a hard App Store rule. That's why the best tools of this kind (AltTab, Rectangle, Raycast) are all direct downloads too. And yes, it's safe: Pro is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple - Apple scans every build for malware before it ever reaches you, and macOS verifies that seal each time it runs. Same no-account, no-tracking promise as always.
Do I lose my shortcuts when switching from Lite to Pro?+
No. On its first launch, Pro finds your Lite shortcuts and imports them automatically - you start exactly where you left off. Belt and braces: both editions also keep automatic daily backups of your shortcut list, and you can export it any time via Settings → Export.
Which permissions does TypeJump need?+
None for the core - jumping to apps, files, and folders just works. Two optional permissions unlock the power features. Accessibility lets TypeJump switch windows and notice the double-tap gesture. And “Screen Recording” sounds far scarier than it is: that's simply Apple's name for the permission - TypeJump never monitors, records, or stores your screen. It's used only in the split second the window switcher opens, so an app with several windows - Chrome, say - shows each window as a small live preview instead of a bare icon, and you see instantly where you're jumping.
